Pumpkin Playdough

When I was running Touch of Home Learning I had a class we made playdough. It was called Kitchen Chemistry. I tested so many recipes for playdough I decided to combine some to get the perfect no cook recipe.

This recipe makes a nice smooth playdough that is not too sticky.
In one bowl mix
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
In another cup mix
  • 1/2 cup glue
  • 1/2 cup water

If you are going to color the playdough do it here. This will give you the best coloring. Go darker than you would normally, the white of the dry ingredients will dull the saturation of color.
  • Add 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil to the water/glue solution.

Slowly add the glue solution to the flour mix. Combine until dough is formed.  If you are finding it is still a little sticky sprinkle with flour and knead. You will need to knead it for 3 to 5 minutes.

Let's make is a great pumpkin recipe.

First, color your glue pumpkin orange (4 Red / 2 Yellow / 1 Blue) is the ratio for a standard liquid food coloring).   Then add 1 tablespoon, more if you like, of pumpkin pie spice to your dry ingredients. Now mix and knead.
Have fun! Until next time!
